Calendar of Online Classes for 2025

I'm a little alarmed that somehow it is nearly mid-June, but super grateful to have gotten some things on my calendar for the remainder of the year. I am still mired in the creation of a new website/organization overhaul and you'll be the first to know when I finally get it launched, but until then, I wanted to let folks know about the offerings I've come up with for the remainder of the year (at least the online ones) so you can share, sign up, or ignore them.

A note about signing up: I am continuing to work on removing myself from technology that is harmful in different ways, and one of the companies I'm working to divest from is Google. There is an open source platform that has most of the functionality of Google Drive called CryptPad and I'm using that for all my sign up forms for now. It's not cute or slick, and it may at first raise alarms for you when you click through the link, but rest assured, it's safe. It is a French company, and so far (with the exception of not being able to upload videos to share), I like it.

CREATING WELLNESS WITH INTENTION

This is a one-hour Zoom class that is designed to help folks identify ways to bring their nervous system back into regulation. The world is A LOT right now, and setting up some easy practices that we can use on a regular basis to counteract all of the information overload and sensory overwhelm we are feeling doesn't have to be super hard. I'll offer it on the 4th Friday of the month, so there will be multiple opportunities to engage (it's not a series - it's meant for folks to take once, although if you take it and then want a refresher, that's cool). Sliding scale cost is $10-$15. Sign up at the link in the paragraph heading.

June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sep. 26, Oct. 24, or Nov. 21

PREPARING TO RESIST: Nervous System Regulation as a Collective Practice

This course is for people who want to find ways to organize and sustain resistance without burning out. This 90-minute Zoom gathering will give you tools to regulate your nervous system and recognize when you need support to continue the fight. This is very similar to the online courses I did right after Trump was elected, specifically for white women, but as things escalate politically, it feels important for more people to have these tools so that when we enter movement spaces, we are calm and clear and able to join in without getting super activated by our fellow activists. Like the previous course, it is meant to be taken once, and the different sections will be held on the 3rd Saturday of June, August, October, or November. Sliding scale cost: $15 - $40. Sign up at the link in the paragraph heading.

June 21, Aug. 16, Oct. 18, or Nov. 15

Sept 8, 15, 22, and 29 OR Nov. 3, 10, 17, and 24

I’ll provide prompts and every week, you’ll get the chance to write alongside others and share ideas and encouragement. Held weekly on Sundays from October 5 through December21. *A note about pricing: I strive to let folks know upfront what I charge for my work. I also want all of what I do to enhance your life, your work, and by extension, the collective. I don’t want it to feel extractive or create scarcity in another key part of your life. You decide what you can afford and tell me. If the low end of the scale is still too high or you need to pay in chunks, let’s talk.

Please respond to this email if you have questions or want to sign up for something and are having trouble. You're also welcome to share this information with folks you think might be interested. Take care and know that I am holding you all in peace as we move through this wild time in history.

I ran into my neighbor this morning and she let me know that she had a hard time signing up for the BuyMeACoffee offering for the memoir. If you're having trouble, please let me know and I can try to troubleshoot (although me + technology are not super tight, so I'll do my best). In case you need the link again it's here https://buymeacoffee.com/kario and to clarify, you can either start reading on Monday and see how you feel, buy me a coffee for any amount you want just once (prices are...

and probably find out. But since I'm no stranger to doing things the non-traditional way, I'm getting more and more comfortable with it. Here's the thing: I'm a storyteller (just ask my kids, they'll roll their eyes and agree wholeheartedly). I am not a marketer. I am not a hustler. I am not a fan of capitalism. I am the author of three books of my own and I am incredibly proud of them all, to be certain. I am also tremendously grateful to the organizations that published those books, and......

I hate marketing. I hate the entire notion of marketing, including when someone starts talking about "personal brand" (makes me vomit in my mouth), and when I get random emails from platforms like this or LinkedIn or DreamHost about how I can Optimize! Your! Audience! But more than that, I hate how easily those things creep in to my consciousness on a regular basis. I started a blog about 17 years ago as a way to share my writing with a group of women I'd met at a writing workshop. We all...
