It's HERE and other things because the world is a lot

Happy 2026!

Visions for a Radically Different World is here!

I am so excited for this podcast series and I hope you are, too. The first episode is a 30-minute introduction to the idea and you can listen here (or on Spotify or Apple, but I have issues with Spotify, so in case you do, too, there are options). There will be new episodes on the fourth Tuesday of every month and I really want to hear from folks with their ideas for other conversations as well as comments on the episodes. I've set up a "shop" on my BuyMeACoffee page where I'm hopeful that people can interact. It doesn't cost anything to be there (although if you want to donate a few dollars to show your appreciation, I won't stop you).

Speaking of BuyMeACoffee...

The final written chapter has been uploaded. For folks who have followed along on this experiment with me, thank you so much! For people who are intrigued and want to read my memoir in serial vignettes (or listen, if you prefer), check out the Memoir Guide.

Other Happenings/Musings

I know that keeping up with life and the news cycle is a wild ride these days so I'm doing my best to help folks find ways to return to a place of calm and clarity so they can sustain the things that keep them safe and give them joy: parenting, partnering, engaging in healthy relationships with ourselves, our beloveds, and the world around us. I have a variety of offerings coming up that are low or no-barrier (please don't let money be an issue) and if you are interested, check them out here.

I am also available for 1:1 conversations to see if there is something I can do to help. We all belong to each other and the more we practice asking for help and increasing our capacity to receive it, the better off we will all be.

Good News & Links

My friend Jason Sole has been fighting to receive a pardon for years and he was finally granted a full pardon by Governor Walz last month. He is an amazing activist and human being living in Minneapolis and is currently on the front line of the ICE resistance. He has worked for years to build community and create spaces for reparations and healing justice and I can't wait to see what he does next.

This Op-Ed was written by one of the people who fought the fires in Los Angeles a year ago and it's definitely worth a read if you want to see what happens when we believe that people are truly good.

From the Archives

As I am playing with the new website and figuring out what works and what needs to be tweaked, I'm realizing that both of my other websites have so much information on them that is still really relevant. And I know a lot of people who follow this newsletter are parents who originally found my work because of that, so I wanted to share a post I wrote in 2022 that I think might be interesting.

While I wrote it for parents of teens, I think it can have huge ripples for us in all of our relationships because so many of the ways we relate to others are rooted in ideas that deserve some examination. This one is all about our ideas of work and how we define it and how we think about other people (and ourselves) in the context of laziness and productivity. Check the entire article out here

Finally...

There are two more online Grief and Rage cohorts scheduled in the next few months if folks are interested. We meet on Zoom once a week for four weeks and practice being in community while we tease apart all of the ways we are holding on to grief and rage and it is causing us harm. We meet Mondays in February or April at 5pm PST. Here's what some folks have said about these workshops

"You provided a way for me to identify things I’d long forgotten and let them go.” Suzanne

“You have given me new tools to heal generations of grief and rage – a gift that will strengthen generations ahead. Thank you!” Melissa

"I never realized how intertwined grief and rage are, and how much rage I actually have. Thank you for helping me name it and move it through me." Caren

I hope you are well, and I'd love to hear from you about what you're doing, how you're feeling, and if I can be supportive.

When I was working with my friend Julie and then later, Shelby, to find a way to describe the work I do and the offerings that seemed disparate and disconnected, it became clear that the through-line of all of it is relationship. Our connection to one another is the most important part of my work - helping facilitate repair where there has been rupture, helping folks define their connection to themselves and their passion, and crafting ways for us to strengthen our relationships to one...

Hi, and Happy November. I hope that wherever you are, you're experiencing some ease and joy and finding ways to stay grounded. The world is a lot right now, for sure. This morning, I was reminded of this poem by Nikita Gill and it gave me some solace. Something to Consider... You all know how I feel about AI (and if you don't you can read my rant here). I have strong opposition to it for a whole host of reasons, and then yesterday, I had an experience that gave me another reason to worry...

Image from https://www.educba.com/abolitionist-movement/ In some spaces, abolition has become a buzzword, and it often feels either confusing or downright frightening to folks, or it's immediately associated with the movement to end slavery in the United States, not as something that is contemporary or important right now. The word, however, has been used in activist movements for decades, and more widely following the murder of George Floyd in 2020, and I think it's important to understand...
